WUE Sponsors CREA’s Guatemala Electrification Efforts

Western United was a proud sponsor of the recent trip to Guatemala by volunteer linemen from Colorado and Oklahoma to electrify the village of Sillab. The program, organized by Colorado Rural Electric Association, in-stalled 6.5 miles of power lines, an estimated 40 poles, 4 trans-formers and brought power to the isolated village for the first time. Western United provided each of the linemen 5 long sleeve T-Shirts to wear during their time working in the country. Access to electricity is a life changing event for the village and Western United is honored to have participated.

WUE’s effort to upgrade our computer system from SAP to Prophet 21 was postponed due to vendor delays. The upgrade, previously scheduled for October 1st, has been pushed out to December 1st to allow the manufacturer the opportunity to complete required functionality on our Website and Accounting processes.

Construction has begun on the expansion to our Brighton warehouse. The 25K square feet of enclosed warehouse space is being added in addition to 13 new parking spaces and an EV charging station. Completion is now expected in January 2020.

Three new employees and one contractor have recently been added to the WUE staff. Greg Kearns has joined WUE as Director of Warehouse Operations, replacing Brian Peterson who has moved to the Sales team. In the Brighton warehouse, Jess Miller, Marcus Ulibarri and contractor Jose Martinez have joined the team.

Western United ranked #70 in the annual listing of the top 200 electrical distributors in the country in the June issue of Electrical Wholesaling magazine. This is up from our ranking of 73 last year. Additionally, We were rated #3 in the country for sales per employee with $3.3M of sales for every employee based on calendar year 2018 sales. Western United Open House 2019

Western United recently hosted their biennial Open House event at their Brighton, Colorado facility. The event was attended by over 240 customers and vendors, with 60 vendors displaying products for the event. The WUE Open House event has become the premiere event for Rocky Mountain region utilities to visit multiple vendors with products on display. Vendors and products on display included day-to-day construction items, EV charging stations, SCADA service providers, engineering support vendors, smart devices and solid state interrupting devices.

We want to thank our valued customers and vendors for their support.

Grand Prize raffle giveaways this year were a 55” Flat Screen TV and a set of tickets to the Broncos vs. Titans game at Empower Field at Mile High on October 13th. In addition to the Western United sponsored grand prizes, there were over 50 additional door prizes thanks to the support of manufacturers and authorized manufacturer agents from all throughout the WUE service territory.

Along with this year’s Open House, WUE also hosted a golf tournament and clay shoot. We would like to thank all of our sponsors for their support, as well as all of our customers that attended and supported the events. In addition, we would like to thank Buffalo Run Golf Course for hosting the tournament, and Colorado Clays for hosting the clay shoot. Both facilities were great to work with and did a phenomenal job supporting our events.
